Hi,
I am wondering if there is an option to set default writing fonts etc in the card editor?
Also, what language is this programmed in? (C++, C#, VB, Java etc etc)
Thanks,

See template ideas in the help->windows style help.
You can create a Template Idea that has the font in it and subsequently when you create a new idea in open space, the font will come with it.
You have probably found that creating ideas near other ideas makes the font like the nearby idea.

Template Idea help doesn't provide any explaination on changing font type and size.
When creating new Template Idea, there are no way (that I see of) to select or edit the font type and size.
Please further explain. This could be very intuitive, unless I am missing the info on how to. |

Changing Font type etc Guest

It is not clear where it is that you are getting stuck.
If you create a new Idea, you can change the font by selecting the text in the Idea or the whole idea, then changing the font overhead.
Then if you click on the template idea button, it becomes an Idea that you can choose to add back into your Card.
If you RIGHT DRAG on the template ideas window you can move it up and down. You can delete ideas by clicking on an idea and then clicking 'delete'.

Isn't there a way to universally change the default setting of the font size and type?
The way I understood so far is that we have to set the font size and type a card at a time, too cumbersome.
Please help. Thanks in advance. |

Here is the copy and paste of the Windows help for Templates Ideas:
"Template Ideas
When you double click on the background of a Card near another Idea, the 'Proximity Affect' takes place, making the new Idea like the nearby one.
If you click away from other Ideas, or only the 'First Idea' is on the Card, then by default, the style of the Idea you create is determined by the 'Default Template Idea'. This can be changed.
See the right hand side of the program, by default has 'Template Card', 'Template Idea' and 'Library'?
Hover over them, and they will open for use.
What you can see in the Template Idea Window is the controls at the top, then the 'Default Template Idea' which is the Idea that is created in the Card each time you double click, and then the list of 'Template Ideas' below that.
Template Ideas can be used by
1. Double clicking on one of the Template Ideas in the list will move it to the 'Default Template Idea' box. From that point forwards, each new Idea that you create on the main Card will be whichever 'Default Template Idea'.
2. Drag an Idea from the List onto the Card.
We suggest that you add your new template cards to your own list (separate to the default) as it is likely that the defaults will be overwritten by RecallPlus version upgrades.
Default Idea
The default Idea is displayed at the top of the "Template Ideas" window
When you double click on the background of a Card, this idea will appear
To change the default Idea either
Double click a template idea in the list of template Ideas or
Click on the desired Idea on your card, then click the green DI button in the "Template Idea Window"
There isn't any thing here that will help with setting a universal font size and type.
Please help. It is way too tedious to have to change the font size and type every time starting a new card.
thanks in advance. |

OK,
I managed to create a new Idea template with the font type and size (12 in this case) that i want and placed it as the Default Template Idea.
However, when creating a new Idea and pasted a copied content into the new Idea, the font size of the pasted content reverts back to 10, not keeping 12.
I wonder if this is because the universal font size is 10 and therefore the pasted content gets reverted?
What can I do so that I can keep the size 12.
This is so frustrating!
There's gota be a better way at setting the universal font size. |

There is no default font Guest

The font size and type etc comes from the font of the idea being used...
If you create a new idea near another one, then the default 'look' of the idea is the same as the nearest.
If you create a new idea in the middle of an empty area, then it will use the default template idea... at the right of the program in the template ideas window.
Double click on a different template idea to get a different one to come up.
To move the template ideas around right drag the background in the template ideas window.
To change the default template idea double click an alternative in the template ideas window.
To add a new template idea - click on the add template idea button at top.
to find out more see template ideas in the help--> windows style help.
Suggest very likely there is something really simple that you are missing which if you ask someone to look over your shoulder with a fresh point of view, might be obvious. ... we have seen this happen randomly in our user testing.

Finally, a reply. Thank you.
Maybe, my writing was NOT clear enough. Let me try again.
I customized a default template idea and using it as my Default Template Idea.
Customed font size: 12
Customed font type: Times Roman
However, when pasting copied content into the new Idea in the middle of a blank card, the font size of the pasted content reverts back to size 10, not keeping the customized size 12.
What can I do so that when pasting copied content into the customized Template Idea, I can keep the font size 12.
I hope this is clear. If not, kindly let me know.
This is so frustrating! |

I've quoted in a couple post above about the content of "Template Ideas" help. It has nothing to fix this problem of font size changing.
Please read carefully what the problem we are trying to solve here. It there is an existing solution, please specifically point it out here or direct me to it.
If not, would be an advantage to RecallPlus to add a specific solution to it in the help notes. |

Not able to reproduce this problem right now with instructions given.
What we do to change the default font.
open a new card.
click on the idea to enter edit text mode.
select size 12.
select times new roman.
open template ideas window .. click on add template idea.
Right drag the list of template ideas up so that can see the new template idea added to list... drag it if wish in new position...
Double click newly created template idea to make it into the default... should now see same in default window.
Open new card... the new idea will be the default.
double click anywhere else is same.
It is not clear what problem you are having.

With your new default template idea (your choice of font size and type),
did you copy from selected source and then paste into the new Idea?
I don't know how to make it any clearer than this and what's already been said.
Again, copy source and pasted into new Idea, NOT type into new Idea.
The font size of the pasted info changed to something else (in my case, from 12 to 10) other than the defaulted Template Idea font size (in my case, 12). |

Experience sitting behind 'trial users' with their first experiences with software including RecallPlus is that often if a second person can have a look at a problem with you, then they will not be in the same thought pattern as you have.
Consequently the solution is obvious without the existing mindset.
Have you tried just getting a friend to have a look at what you are doing for 5 mins?
