Whether a software is great or not, all depends on the responsive support of the developer.

Lately, RecallPlus's support leave much to desire. Requests made were not responded to.

Any great software depends on the interactive of the two communities, the users and developers. Without one, the other can't independently make the sofetware what it potentially can be.

Dear Madame,
Thank you for your real and significant feedback.

I am responsible for having requested our programmers concentrate on solving some core VISTA problems that had been pointed out by people who were emailing us, before we went back to trying to fix everything.

I am glad to say that time has passed.

I am sorry we have been unable to fix day to day problems for the last weeks... we started to get bogged down in the number of problems that Vista users are finding with our program and with Vista itself. We gave priority to those who emailed us and they had issues that have taken a lot of research to resolve and have resulted in the latest version release.

We now understand well enough where the line between a Vista and Vista-RecallPlus interaction problem exists and we can therefore offer more meaningful support.

We are happy to say that we have taken our program through the Vista guantlet in the last month during which we have been responding mostly to emails only.

We have released the Beta of 4096 and will hopefully within 48 hours release the alpha of that program based on the feedback and alterations thereof.

Our apologies for the significant problems we have had in the last month getting our heads around the problems with moving to Vista.

Regards
Dr Adrian Ternouth

Thank you as well for the detailed feed back. It is this kind of communication that would retain your users in the long run. Hope will see more off.

Vista: In that case, is RP stable with Vista now?

We have only completed changeover to Vista for 2 months.

All our developer machines are Vista.
Vista itself still crashes sometimes, but only when we are experimenting with it.

RecallPlus is more stable than Vista and more stable than microsoft development tools that we have.
We use it for organising ourselves as a group all day and have not had it stop etc.

It is possible that we have missed something, but it is getting increasingly unlikely.

As you can see from the discussion board, people are reporting problems, but there is only one guy who temporarily lost a chapter, and that was when his computer shut down and he was working on one computer, with the chapter file he had opened was opened from another computer across the network as his computer shut down.
He managed to use the 'backup/restore' functions to get back his stuff anyway - so in the end there was no loss.

Just to clarify; Are you going to maintain the XP compatibility of RP?

XP compatibility stays

80% of users use XP - therefore we had better!

Seriously... There is no issue with maintaining compatibilty in the forwards direction - the only problem will be if new things come out with newer versions of windows that are not supported in XP.

Example would be speech recognition.
When it becomes very good (soon), RecallPlus will only be able to take advantage of that with the latest OS release (e.g. windows 7)... and XP will continue not to support speech recognition of course.
